the87press Poetry Book Subscription 2025-6
The subscription of 7 books prioritises women writers, BIPOC writers and queer writers from the US, continuing a long tradition of trans-Atlantic conversation. By bringing highly regarded literature from the US for readers based in the UK and Ireland we seek to enrich conversations around literature, cultural politics and global diasporas in a time of increased militarised borders and rising ethno-nationalism.
The87press has always rejected nationalist literary projects while also recognising literature produced in different national contexts is developed within distinct cultural conditions. Cross-culturality and creolisation remain important touchstones for our publishing practice and this set of books highlight those guiding ideas readily.
These innovative works of literature showcase debuts from artists at an earlier stage of their writing life such as Susan Nguyen, Emily Lee Luan and Megan Pinto, as well as reissues from more established writers such as Lena Khalaf Tuffaha and Pat Parker not previously published in the British Isles. Also featured is Whiting Poetry Award recipient and Indigenous Nations poet Annie Wenstrup alongside a rising star of US poetry, Gabrielle Bates.
The seven-book subscription also includes our beautiful Late Modernist tote bag made from recycled cotton.
Each book will be a French Style paperback with a maximalist design paperback printed on high quality FSC paper. 5 of the 7 books are typeset in our new house poetry font commissioned from Berlin-based typography and design studio ABCDinamo.
With a total RRP of £109.94, this subscription not only saves you money; your subscription will be posted for free as part of our recognition of your support.
With the87press having moved, as of April 2025, to a non-profit Community Interest Company model, we can guarantee that your money is going directly to supporting the publication of future authors and to assist us in continuing our mission of contributing to literary culture in its global form.
